The Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC invention works as follows
A method to enable multiplayer gaming includes: Executing the first player’s gameplay using a cloud gaming server; presenting the first users gameplay over the network to a remote user; processing a request from the second to join the first person’s gameplay; initiating the user’s first-user’s first-user’s gameshow; wherein the second participant initiates the gameplay by processing input received from the network from a second controller that is associated to the second to at least some of first user?s gameplayBackground for Sharing gameplay within cloud gaming environments

Over the years, there have been many changes in the videogame industry. Developers of video games have also created software that makes use of the increased computing power. Video game developers are creating games that use sophisticated mathematics and operations to create a realistic gaming experience.
The development of games that enhance interaction between the user and the gaming system is a growing trend in computer gaming. Wireless game controllers, whose movements are tracked by the gaming system, can be used to create richer interactive experiences. These wireless controllers track the movements of the player and then use those movements to input the game. Gesture input is, in general, when an electronic device, such as a computer system, smart appliance, or video game console, responds to a gesture made by the player.
Cloud-based gaming systems are another growing trend in the industry. These systems could include a remote processing system that runs a game application and communicates with local thin clients that can be configured for input from users to render video on a screen.
It is in these contexts that embodiments are born of the invention.
The present invention provides methods and systems to share recorded gameplay to a social network. The present invention is possible in many ways. It can be used as an apparatus, a process, or a system. Or a method on a computer-readable medium. Below are several inventive embodiments of this invention.
One embodiment provides a method of sharing recorded gameplay to social networks. This includes: recording video of a user’s gaming session during an active state; receiving a command to start a sharing operation; entering a paused status of the game session and presenting the sharing interface; processing input received through the sharing interface to determine a user defined selection of the video; sharing that user-defined selection to a social network of the user; and then resuming the active session.
In one embodiment, the recording of video of the user’s gaming session includes storing the video in a buffer during active state of the game.
In one embodiment, the sharing interface is presented by retrieving and presenting portions of the video from the buffer.
In one embodiment, the sharing user interface has a duration selector that allows the user to define a time period for the user-definable selection.
In one embodiment, sharing a selection means uploading it for availability on a social networking service that defines the user’s social graph.
In one embodiment, uploading a selection involves compressing it and uploading that compressed selection.
In one embodiment, sharing the choice includes sending a notification to a member on the social graph of user.
In one embodiment, the notification can be defined as one or more of a private messaging, chat message, an in game notification, a post on a social newsfeed, an email, or a combination thereof.
In one embodiment, sharing a selection means presenting it on the profile page of the user.
In one embodiment, the button presses on a controller device define the command to initiate the sharing operation.
Another embodiment provides a method of sharing recorded gameplay to social graphs. This includes the following operations: Recording video of a user’s gaming session during active state; receiving a command for initiating a sharing operation; determining a user defined selection of the video; and sharing the user-defined selected of the video to a user’s social graph. The processor executes the method.
In one embodiment, the recording of video of the user’s gaming session includes storing the video in a buffer during active state of the game.
