Abstract for “User-level management of data objects stored within information management systems”

“Systems and methods for cross-system management of data objects stored within one or more information systems and for user level management of data storagequotas in information systems, including data objects located in secondary storage, are disclosed. One or more information management system are associated with an illustrative manager. The quota manager is a quota value that represents the maximum data storage that an end-user can have in any of the information management systems. The quota manger determines if data associated with an end-user exceeds the storage quota and prompts them to choose data to be deleted. If so, the deletion will be applied globally across the primary storage subsystems of each one or more information management system. The quota manager orders storage managers to stop backups of the end-user’s data as long as the quota exceeds.
