Non-transitory computer-readable media and systems are able to determine if the broadcaster of live streams has identified at least one person in the social network system in order to become a co-broadcaster. Social networking systems publish a merged stream of live content. This stream consists of the first stream broadcast by the broadcaster and the second stream linked to the user identified. A minimum of one notification is sent to the other users of the social media system. Notifications are sent out to other users of the system about the merging live content stream.

In certain instances the notification is sent out visually to social networking users who follow the broadcaster or at least one identifiable person. The notification is displayed in a set of avatars which correspond to the broadcaster and at least one user identified.

In certain instances the set may include a first avatar that corresponds to the broadcaster, and an additional avatar that corresponds to the co-broadcaster. The avatars are layered so that the first avatar is covered by at least the second avatar.

In some embodiments, systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media are configured to detect that at least one identified user is no longer a co-broadcaster identify a set of users who are a part of the at-least one identified user but do not follow the broadcaster; and stop the group of users from accessing the first live content stream.

In some instances, the merged live content stream can be accessed by viewers via an interface comprising a first region and a secondary region in which the initial live stream of content is displayed in the first region, and the second livecontent stream is shown in the second region.
