“In one aspect, this invention is a method for making multi-phase particles, which include nanoparticulates, matrix, and that maintains the nanoparticulates dispersed. The precursor medium is dispersed in the gas phase and drops of the gas dispersion are created. The precursor medium includes liquid vehicle, at least one precursor to a first and second material, and a minimum of one precursor to another material. Multi-phase particles can be formed by gas dispersion. This is done by removing at most a portion the liquid vehicle from the droplets. The multi-phase nanoparticulates contain the first material, while the matrix of the multiphase particles contains the second material.
