A detection device is used to detect an unauthorized message in an on vehicle network that includes a number of on-vehicle vehicles. The device comprises: A monitoring unit that monitors transmission messages in an on-vehicle system and is configured to create first and second time sequence data. These data are time series data of transmission intervals for transmission messages within a first period, and second time data of transmission intervals for transmission messages within a second period. A correlation calculation unit that calculates a correlation between the first and second time series files created by the monitoring units.
