The Sony Interactive Entertainment LLC invention works as follows
A method is described. It includes: receiving a request for an initial session of a cloud app for a user; execution of that session by a cloud server computer to generate video content for the first user; streaming the video to the first client for rendering to a 1st display device; receiving a request for the second user to view the video; streaming the video over the network to the 2nd client device; processing a request for transition control for the first user’s sessions to the 2nd user; initiating control by this userBackground for Remote control of the session of a first user by a second user

Over the years, there have been many changes in the videogame industry. Developers of video games have also created software that makes use of the increased computing power. Video game developers are creating games that use sophisticated mathematics and operations to create a realistic gaming experience.
The development of games that enhance interaction between the user and the gaming system is a growing trend in computer gaming. Wireless game controllers, whose movements are tracked by the gaming system, can be used to create richer interactive experiences. These wireless controllers track the movements of the player and then use those movements to input the game. Gesture input is, in general, when an electronic device, such as a computer system, smart appliance, or video game console, responds to a gesture made by the player.
Cloud-based gaming systems are another growing trend in the industry. These systems could include a remote processing system that runs a game application and communicates with local thin clients that can be configured for input from users to render video on a screen.
It is in these contexts that embodiments are born of the invention.
Embodiments according to the invention allow remote control by a second user of a first user?s gameplay. The present invention is possible in many ways. It can be implemented as a process or an apparatus, a system or a method on any computer-readable medium. Below are several inventive embodiments of this invention.
In one embodiment, remote control of a user?s gameplay is possible. The method includes the following operations: Presenting a live video feed from a first user to a second user; processing a request for transition control of the first users gameplay to the second person; initiating control by the second user of the first user?s gameplay; the method is executed by at most one processor.
In an embodiment, the second user initiates control of the first player’s gameplay. This involves activating control by the second controller device associated to the second user and deactivating the first user from their gameplay.
In one embodiment, the second controller device controls the first user?s gameplay. This includes receiving input commands from it and applying them to the first user?s gameplay.
In one embodiment, live video feeds are presented via a social interface to the second person, which provides access to a second user’s social network. The first user is defined as being a member of second user’s second social graph.
In one embodiment, the social interaction includes a comments interface to allow users to post comments during their first game.
In one embodiment, processing a request for transition control involves receiving acknowledgement from the first person to permit the second user to control the first user’s gameplay.
In one embodiment, presenting the live stream of the first user?s gameplay to the other user involves presenting it in a nonfullscreen format. The second user then initiates control of the first users gameplay by triggering the presentation of the live feed in fullscreen format.
Another embodiment provides a method of providing multiplayer gaming. It includes the following operations: Presenting a live video feed from a first user’s game session to a remote user; processing a request that a second user join the first users’ gameplay session; and initiating gameplay by second user in the user’s first user’s game session. The method is executed by at most one processor.
In one embodiment, the second user initiates gameplay in the first user’s gaming session. This includes initiating a multiplayer game mode.
In one embodiment, live video feeds are presented via a social interface to the second person, which provides access to a second user’s social network. The first user is defined as being a member of second user’s second social graph.
In one embodiment, the social interaction includes a comments interface to allow users to post comments during their first game.
In one embodiment, the user who requested to join the first user?s gaming session receives an acknowledgment from the first to allow the second user to play in the first player’s game session.
